What if, for a moment, you could step outside yourself?
Leave behind the roles you play every day — at work, at home, with friends, with family — and try on someone completely different.
This playful and curious theatre workshop invites adults into the world of UN-MASKING, a performance inspired by the provocative and mischievous writing of Polish writer Witold Gombrowicz, where identity, expectations and the roles we take on are never quite what they seem.
Through movement, theatre games, observation and improvisation, we will explore the strange and liberating world of masks. You will have the chance to experiment with neutral, grotesque, abstract and ceremonial masks, discovering how a change of face can change the way you move, communicate, behave — and even how you see yourself.
What happens when your face disappears?
Can your body speak before you do?
Can a mask give you permission to be more playful, more daring, more ridiculous — or simply different?
Throughout the workshop, fragments from UN-MASKING will offer glimpses into the performance and its exploration of identity, belonging, social expectations and the many “forms” we find ourselves wearing in the presence of others.
You don’t need to be an actor. You don’t need to be confident on stage. You simply need to be curious and willing to play.
A mask can hide us.
It can protect us.
It can transform us.
It can give us permission to become someone else.
And sometimes, by becoming someone else, we may discover something about ourselves.
Come and play. Pick up a mask. Step into another form.
And see who you might become when nobody knows who you are.

Justyna Cwojdzińska
Justyna Cwojdzinska is a Polish theatre practitioner, cultural facilitator and educator. Her practice explores identity, belonging, intercultural connection and the ways we use stories, movement and play to understand ourselves and others.
With a background in theatre, acting, directing and cultural facilitation, Justyna works across performance, education and community arts, creating playful and inclusive spaces where participants can experiment, take risks and discover new ways of expressing themselves. Her work brings together theatre, movement, storytelling, masks and non-verbal forms.
UN-MASKING: Playing Someone Else, Becoming Yourself is her current theatre project, inspired by the provocative and mischievous writing of Polish writer Witold Gombrowicz. Through UN-MASKING, Justyna explores the roles, expectations and “forms” we take on in the presence of others — and what might happen when we dare to step outside them.
