A 30day creative exploration into the environment and sensations experienced through sensory overload. How do you feel in a busy street, a crowed and noisy room, when under pressure to achieve a task but the words on the page just keep repeating themselves? The expression on everyone’s face means nothing, why do they get upset when you tell the truth or confront them with the facts. These could be just some of the daily challenges that you face if you’re living with Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
Simon Thompson will work throughout the process in a full-faced character mask, hiding his facial expressions and relying on his bodies physicality to communicate, this will require a greater level of participation on the part of the observer to watch deeper and find the narrative that the artist is silently unfolding before their eyes.
“Lifted Up”: Charlie is an adult who has been diagnosed with A.S.D, he’s high functioning and lives a fairly conventional life just like you and me. Charlie, however, is subject to sensory overload, the hustle and bustle, the raw sounds of an urban soundscape, the words on a page all take their toll. But Charlie has a method for coping, he finds solace in music and through the care and affection, he lavishes on his pigeons.

Simon Thompson wchodzi w proces w pełnej masce, zasłaniając swoją mimikę twarzy, komunikując się tylko poprzez ekspresję fizyczną. To wymaga od widza bardziej skupionej obserwacji, aby znaleźć narrację, którą artysta w ciszy stara się przed nami rozwinąć.
“Lifted Up”: Charlie jest dorosłym, który został zdiagnozowany z ASD ( Autistic Spectrum Disorder czyli Spektrum Autystyczne). Funkcjonuje na wysokich obrotach i prowadzi w miarę przeciętne życie, tak jak Ty czy ja. Charlie, jednakże ma problem z nadwrażliwością sensoryczną, z nadmiarem hałasu, dźwiękami miasta, słowami zapisanymi w formie książki, to wszystko ma na niego ogromny wpływ. Jednakże Charlie ma sposób na radzenie sobie z codziennym życiem i znajduje pocieszenie w muzyce i w opiekowaniu się z miłością, którą darzy gołębie.

Po spektaklu odbędzie się sesja pytań i odpowiedzi z twórcą.
