In this hands-on session, you will: – Learn the history, symbolism, and regional styles of Ukrainian papercutting. – Discover the unique “vyryvanka” technique — an expressive form where patterns are torn by hand instead of cut. – Create your own original artwork using craft knives and Daria’s exclusive design templates. – Master the art of paper gluing to professionally finish your piece. You’ll leave the workshop with your own A3-format papercut artwork, made with your hands and heart — a beautiful keepsake rooted in Ukrainian tradition. All materials provided. No prior experience required — just bring your curiosity and creativity! About the artist: DARIA ALYOSHKINA Ukrainian Papercut Artist | Monumental Tradition Reimagined Daria Alyoshkina is a leading Ukrainian artist celebrated for transforming the ancient folk art of papercutting into monumental contemporary works. Her intricate, hand-crafted pieces merge symbolism, elegance, and scale, expressing Ukrainian identity, spirituality, and cultural memory. Trained as a sculptor, she discovered her true voice through papercut art, creating both intimate and large-scale works exhibited in major cultural institutions across the world — from the Venice Biennale to the United Nations and Cartier. Her work has been shown in Paris, Geneva, Seoul, Toronto, and Kyiv, with notable features at Homo Faber (Venice 2024) and the Révélations Biennial (Paris 2023). Her latest exhibition, “Lace of Centuries” (2025), continues to affirm her role as a powerful artistic voice connecting tradition and innovation. DARIA ALYOSHKINA Ukraińska artystka wycinanki | Monumentalna tradycja w nowym wymiarze Daria Alyoshkina to czołowa ukraińska artystka, która przekształciła starodawną sztukę ludowej wycinanki w monumentalną formę współczesnej ekspresji. Jej misternie wykonane, ręcznie tworzone prace łączą symbolikę, elegancję i skalę, wyrażając ukraińską tożsamość, duchowość i pamięć kulturową. Z wykształcenia rzeźbiarka, odnalazła swój prawdziwy głos artystyczny w wycinance, tworząc zarówno kameralne, jak i wielkoformatowe dzieła prezentowane w najważniejszych instytucjach kultury na całym świecie – od Biennale w Wenecji, przez ONZ, po Cartiera. Jej najnowsza wystawa, „Koronka Wieków” (2025), po raz kolejny potwierdza jej siłę jako twórczyni łączącej tradycję i innowację. Sztuka Alyoshkiny to nie tylko dekoracja – to wizualny język odporności kulturowej i poetyckiej tożsamości.
